Bourbon Beauty: Awakenings Boutique Louisville, Ky.

Who's tackling those Christmas lists? (I'm not organized enough, but seeing her shop got me in the mood lol).

I visited Awakenings Boutique, and fell. in. love. with this comfy blanket! Its perfect for cozing up in this chilly weather. (Anyone else waking up to ice?? This morning some schools were cancelled due to freezing rain. Crazy!)

Almost as good as an actual bottle of wine. Almost.

They have Organic Skin Care, and really super cute Jewelry! I loved this necklace gifted to me earlier this year by Heidi (the owner).

I should've sneaked these into my bag hahaha. HOW CUTE are this ribbons? I think these would look super cute sitting under the Christmas tree!

I loved these socks! These would look adorable peeking over boots.

Last but not least, I loved the gold embellishments on this hat. Pair it with a camel or white jacket, you'll be looking cute during your next holiday gathering!

For more information about these items, and other goodies in this shop, Check them out!

Bourbon Beauty: Kentucky Derby Festival Ready! My Stylist @ Macy's

The Kentucky Derby is right around the corner (seems like time just flies, doesn't it?!?). The Kentucky Derby Festival has tons of events preceding it, and the Macy's Spring Fashion show is just one of many! (for more information on upcoming events, click here) Macy's reached out and kindly invited me not only to their Kentucky Derby Festival Spring Fashion Show, but to try out their My Stylist @ Macy's. I was excited!

(Macy's Oxmoor Mall | Louisville, Ky.)

My Stylist @ Macy's is a free personal shopping service. They help you find the perfect outfit (Men & Women), home furnishings, and gift items you're looking for. It was so fun and easy to do! I didn't know this existed, but I will definitely use them again in the future (The ease and time saving!). I think this would be perfect for Derby, or maybe even a future wedding or special event?

(If you're going to Oxmoor Mall (Louisville, Ky), its located on the first floor, towards the back.).

It's so easy to book a session with My Stylist, you can do it online @ macy's.com/mystylist, by phone 800-343-0121, or in person by walking into the store office. (Since they reached out to me, I just gave them my dress size, and they pulled clothing out for all of the bloggers that were participating in the event.) You just mention what you're in need of, and voila! Help is just a quick click/call/chat away.

Terri, Brittany, and the whole team were so friendly! (Some of them traveled from Chicago, it was funny to talk to other people from my hometown. Small world.) I loved their clothing suggestions, it was super easy and quick to decide on the dress I wanted. (Thank you so much for the help and suggestions.)

(Their Spring 2018 line is GORGEOUS!) I loved everything, especially the pink.

(Amazing selection on accessories, from fascinators to earrings.)

I love love LOVE the beautiful color of this dress I selected (thank you Macy's!), I think I'm going to pair it with the nude guess heels pictured above on my wardrobe rack. ( I prefer nude colored shoes since it elongates the legs.)

As a personal preference, I prefer jewelry pieces that are dainty (and classic) with a structured dress. I feel dainty pieces compliment it, without being overwhelming. I loved this pretty Rose Gold Cuff I chose (they gifted me) by INC.

These earrings also caught my eye! Since the dress isn't low cut, I probably wouldn't wear a necklace... *but* (for the sake of my mom judging me for not using one haha, she always insists on necklaces) if I had to choose one, I'd probably pair it with a beautiful pearl necklace, or a thin short chained silver one.

If you're looking for help getting styled for an event, purchase a gift, or ideas for your home, I highly recommend getting in touch with your local My Stylist @ Macy's. It takes the guess work out of what to buy, there's no pressure to purchase, and its completely free. Derby season means lots of outfits for parties, hostess gifts, and finding the perfect housewares for entertaining. This is a service I would definitely take advantage of.

Thank you Macy's for the opportunity to see your new spring line, and my new outfit. I can't wait to use it for an upcoming event. Your whole team was so friendly! I'm excited to use the dress for opening night at Churchill Downs.

For more information on My Stylist @ Macy's, their button will remain on my side bar until Derby :-) I've also created a Macy's Derby "Story" on my Instagram account, that shows clips of their spring line if you're interested!

What are you most excited for this Derby Season?

Bourbon Beauty: Skyn Lounge: Louisville's Premiere Boutique Spa Pt. 1

Having my kids home for summer vacation, is always bitter sweet. I adore waking up with them in the mornings, lounging around at the park, watching them giggle with content as they run around care free... but the responsibility of keeping kids fed, clean, and ENTERTAINED 24/7 (with no respite) can take a toll on anyone! I feel like everyone deserves some time to themselves. When I was asked to review a spa, I was overjoyed to say the least. My babies would be heading back to school, and I would finally be able to get a little me time.

It's been at least a year since I've had a massage, so the idea of getting a bit of pampering sounded like heaven on earth! Stepping into Skyn Lounge felt *exactly* like that.

Walking in, the first thing you notice is the elegance of the space. Very serene decor, tranquil colors, it felt very inviting. (I've been to horribly busy spas, overtired employees trying to rush you out for their next client. This was not the case here! It was very peaceful, and the women were very attentive.)

I was offered water while I waited to be seen for my appointment.  I filled out a thorough questionnaire, (I suggest coming in at least 10 minutes early, so you have enough time to be thoughtful with your requests/ medical history.) and was promptly seen soon after.

The room I was taken into, had dim lighting, and soft serene music playing in the background. I was told to undress to my comfort level, and was handed a soft wrap. Climbing onto the massage table, and melting into the heated covers felt amazing.

Katie was very attentive, and walked me through every procedure I had done. She gave me an amazing massage (I personally enjoy someone with a heavy hand, and appreciated that she made sure the pressure was okay.). She cleansed my make up, exfoliated my face, did extractions, and explained everything she was doing very thoroughly.

Towards the end of my facial, she did an LED light therapy (I was excited to try this, especially since I know this is very popular with celebrities!). I've seen this procedure splashed across social media, and I had been very curious to try it out.

Per their website:

"LED red or blue light therapy delivers light energy in a similar way that plant absorbs light energy from the sun. LightStim emits UV-free, beneficial light rays that energize cells and stimulate skin's protein building and cell regeneration."

When I was done with my facial (I had complimentary make up done, coming up on my next post), I was happy to know they did makeup. (I always joke that I carry my face in my cosmetic bag, and its so true! I hate leaving my home without makeup. I loved that they offered that, so I wouldn't feel so naked running around doing my errands.).

My dry skin desperately needed some attention, and I couldn't be more happy with the results! Skyn Lounge gave me an amazing experience, and I can't wait to go back. If you're looking for a little pampering, (or maybe a gift for the Christmas season!), I HIGHLY recommend Skyn Lounge. I've already told my mom about the place, and I foresee a girl's night happening *very* soon.

Thank you Skyn Lounge for having me!

For more information on Skyn Lounge, check out their website! You can find a list of all of their facials and procedures (including waxes). (ask for Katie!)

Firmoo Glasses!

Firmoo was kind enough to send me some new glasses!

www.firmoo.com

They contacted me last year to do a review on this pair, and I still use them daily. Of course I wanted another!

www.firmoo.com

I typically only use clear framed ones, but I grabbed some green ones for fun.

I'm awful at taking selfies, but I thought I'd try the duck/kissy face I see all over the place haha. (Nailed it, or nah?)

Check out their site! www.firmoo.com

Thanks firmoo for my new glasses, I love them<3

Edit:

I was made aware that there's actually a promo going on for new customers! Get 50% of your first pair :-) Happy Shopping!  Thanks Firmoo for the code<3

Although Firmoo was kind enough to gift me glasses, I promise that my reviews (as usual) are my honest experiences. For more information on my disclosure policy, click here.

Getting styled for my event at Talbots!

A representative for Talbots reached out to me, and asked if I would be interested in hosting their derby fashion event. Of course I was super excited to be a part of their party!

They gave me the wonderful opportunity to take a peek at their spring line, and one of their consultants styled me, and helped me get ready for the next day.

These were 3 of my favorite dresses! I chose the pink one to the right, along with a pretty silver necklace, and roller ball of their perfume.

I tried on many dresses, and loved the variety they had in store. It was fun getting styled for the event! My parents took the boys for most of the weekend, so I got a rare evening to myself to feel pampered<3

Have you guys been to Talbots before? Have you decided what you're doing for Derby?

I have been trying to find this dish *everywhere*! I kept seeing it on Instagram, and I finally found it at TjMaxx. Before I decided to go shopping, I'll hashtag a store on it to see what's currently available =X Am I the only crazy person that does this lol?

Jorgensen Studio: Local Louisville Jewelry

While browsing through Etsy (to do a feature on local artists), I came across a store that really caught my attention (I absolutely love moonstone rings, so I immediately clicked to see what else she had available.).

The more I looked, the more intrigued I became with the attention to detail in every piece. I took a look at her shop info, and seriously, its hard not to be impressed with someone that clearly loves what she does.

" I am a maker of handmade wedding rings and sets, alternative engagement rings, promise rings, commitment rings, and gemstone jewelry.
As I child I spent lots of time at Art Fairs, I was in awe of the talent and the beauty but could never afford to bring any of it home. I always thought artists were a special breed of people that were born with some special talent that sprouted forth whole. I started this journey as a potter for a hobby. Clay led to metal clay and when I found that limiting I took a metalsmithing class and then I fell in love. you see, I always thought I would be a collector and not a maker but once you find the medium that speaks to you the need to be a maker is overwhelming. When I first started working in metal I felt instantly at home. I feel very lucky to be able to fill my days doing something I love to do & I hope it shows in my work. We are all artists and we all can develop that talent that is born within all of us.
It is important to me to make things that are affordable and beautiful so that everyone can bring a piece home. Everyone deserves beauty in their lives, especially little dreamer girls wandering art fairs.
"

The about page goes on to explain the type of work she does and so forth... Just reading the tidbits gives me a sense of how passionate she seems about her work. I think the photos of her jewelry speak louder than anything else. Something about wearing jewelry that you know someone made with their bare hands... pretty neat!

Here are a few other pieces that I really liked:

I think any of these would be the perfect gift for Valentine's Day!

According to her page, she was at the Flea Off Market, so I'm curious to find out where else she sells her jewelry. Check out her shop and support local :-)

Do you have anything in mind for Valentine's Day? Who is your favorite Etsy seller?
